Associated Press reports that Iditarod CEO, Rob Urbach, plans to meet with PeTA’s Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman.

The meeting is to take place October 17th, 2019 in Reiman’s Los Angeles offices.

PeTA has long been a vocal critic of the approximate 1500 km race and has staged many protests calling for the end to the race, which has taken place annually since 1967.

Urbach states that because both organizations care about animals, he is hopeful they can find common ground.

The Iditarod Trail Committee announced Rob Urbach as the new CEO June 29, 2019.
