Multi Best In Show, Multi Reserve Best In Show, Multi Best In Specialty Show Canadian & American Grand Champion

Vanderbilt ‘N Printemp’s Lucky Strike

Vanderbilt is excited to present this week’s cover dog, “Striker” to the fancy.  It’s hard to put into words exactly how thrilling it is to ride the wave with a breeder owner handled dog, but we’re going to try!

Striker was from a small litter of 3 boys resulting from the International mating of our beautiful CAN & AM CH Vanderbilt’s Cherry Brandy (granddaughter of our Multi BIS & World Dog Show Best of Breed winning “Yani”) to the stunning European Dog Show RBIS winning INT CH Cabaka’s Happy Go Lucky, who himself is a grandson of CAN & AM CH Vanderbilt’s Storm Cat.

Striker stands proudly representing this pedigree of 11 consecutive generations of Vanderbilt breeding which has been a lifetime in the making.

Vanderbilt’s by-line has always been
 “Really Cool Samoyeds Since 1977”

A dog of true Samoyed character, Striker is a comical and playful dog who loves food, dog shows and babies – not necessarily in that order. He is also a gentle and respectful dog when the situation calls for that. In short, he’s a dog that truly enjoys being along for the ride and showing the world what a “Really Cool” Samoyed can do.

He is the very essence of breed type with a gorgeous head sporting the “Samoyed Smile”and those dark, oblique and deep-set almond eyes. Along with the blackest of pigment, and beautifully placed ears, Striker’s head is one for the books.

He also possesses that hard to get “just off square” outline, and is mid standard size with the larger bone demanded by the breed standard. Due to deep angulation on both ends, Striker has outstanding side gait and covers the ground with ease – lowering his head with true efficient working dog movement.

Striker won his first BIS at 8 months of age under judge Tom Alexander as well as a Working Dog specialty under Raymond Yurick at his first weekend out as a Special, handled by Susan Coulson.  As a yearling he went on to be spot shown picking up several more, Best in Shows & Reserve Best in Shows and very competitive Group wins at large shows.

He catapulted into the limelight as a 2 year old last December in Orlando at the AKC National Championship week of shows, essentially unknown, Striker was Best of Breed at 3 out of the 4 all breed shows, and took a Group 1 under Bill Shelton competing amongst America’s Top Working dogs.

From there, the idea to Dream Big and hit the campaign trail in 2019 took shape, and we welcomed fellow northern breed enthusiasts Marc Ralsky and Correen Pacht-Ralsky to Striker’s team. In a natural breed that is not easy to show year-round due to seasonal coat changes as well as competing in an incredibly tough Working Group and working around Judi’s judging commitments, Striker has been able to stand out and be noticed amongst other World Class dogs.

We are incredibly grateful to all of the domestic and international judges who have found and rewarded him beginning in the baby class in 2017 and continuing to this day as he competes as a 3 year old on the campaign trail.

Striker has now surpassed the previous Canadian Samoyed BIS record of 16 – held by CAN & AM CH Vanderbilt’s Let The Games Begin, “Bingo – Parry/Elford).

To date he has been awarded:
24 Best in Shows
16 Reserve Best in Shows

We also would like to sincerely thank Laura King – AKC Reg’d Handler who has shown Striker on occasion when Judi has been unable to, and look forward to the future with much anticipation.

As the saying goes, “If your dreams don’t scare you, they’re not big enough”!
